Pre-KASHIYATRA 2005

KASHIYATRA 2005

KASHIYATRA, our annual All India Cultural Festival is back in all its glory and fervor. This academic session it has been planned for February, 2005 (tentative dates: 24-27). CROSSWINDZ, the Rock Fest will also be held as a part of KY, as done last year.

The team of KY 2005

Convener:
Abhishek Agarwal (IV Mining)

Co-conveners:
K. Arvind (IV Ceramics)
Saurabh Lahiri (IV Civil)
Yashvir Chauhan (IV Chemical)

It was summarized news of the KashiYatra-2005 in the new ITBHU chronicle (e-magazine).Then, internet was not available in the hostels. Most of us 1st yearites did not go to internet café for surfing. So we missed the official news.'Jhankaar' was only pre- preparation before KY.

I do not remember the date but there was a movie show [by projector] in G-11.It was hosted by seniors to gather crowd from hostels.Movie ‘Final Destination’ was shown to us by KY team. Then, they give a brief for coming annual cultural festival “KashiYatra” .

I will now extracting the lines from my personal diary of that days.More information is added to give whole account of KY-2005.

KashiYatra-1st Day (24/02/2005)

I have enrolled myself with KY team as volunteer in event management.I was lucky enough not to enroll in security management. My batchmate Govind Jalan enrolled into it and was standing on the gate of Swatantrata Bhavan (SB). 2nd half of classes were off by short notice from director. I was involved in decoration and various team registration at help desk inside SB. I was helping in putting banners on SB main gate, entrance and in hall. DD bhaiya was managing the volunteers. My room mate AGP was with me. I quoted in my diary-

“There is lot of heated discussion between us like each day. It feels like head on collision on each topic with his counter-views. I do not know problem of that person. When I do not work, he has problems with me; when I deliver the job, he has got bigger objections. I have different style of work than him but is ok man…”

The condition of volunteers was such that we were remembering the name of event coordinators. Such was our preparation for organizing event. People were claiming last year KY (2004) was very good.We have now given responsibility to at lesat maintain that standard.

New director of our institute, SNU came exactly at 4:30 P.M. on the time of inaugral function. At 5:00 P.M. inaugural function started in G-11 due to typical delays by timeless ITBHU, Varanasi. He became angry due to delay in starting. So, our ‘esteemed’ director addressed partially fulled hall in English. It was more about Indian culture and Varanasi than of the cultural festival. The chief guest (do not remember his name) gives speech in Hindi. Then, our director reliazes his iconic fault and lectured again but in Hindi (the mother tongue). Heck, the drama was over soon.

Kavi Sammelan was awesome. I was inside SB with my volunteer card on the name of event management. Inside, I was just capturing seats for my friends only. It was mine first live interaction with poetic event. There was a Sardarjee from Punjab. He was a teacher and I find him most entertaining. I do not even remember the name of rest poets. It was over till midnight.

KashiYatra-2nd Day (25/02/2005)

I woke up at 10:00 AM.Upendra bhaiya and Sonam bhaiya (Mech 2007 batch) came at our hostels for pushing us to SB. The whole day was spent on the help desk.Sushant, Chandu, Mishra, AGP and gaffar were with me. Lot of registration of participant was going on, hence was quite busy. I was just able to watch few dance shows by various teams.I also motivated AGP for participating in Mr and Miss KY event( Original name is not in memory). There was a girl from NIT Allahabad participating in KY. I chatted with her for ½ hour. Then got warning from Chandan Sharma (Mech 2007: Just senior batch) to leave that girl or be ready for consequences. Fashion was also organized. Just got the glimpse of it. I also enjoyed night at the DJ. It was organized in front of G9. 1-2 hour of our fusion dance with hands and legs shaking in each direction makes me laugh today....

KashiYatra 2005-3rd Day (26/02/2005)

Indian Ocean captured my soul (official website)..........
This day was fill with artistic events. I watched theater with Abdul Gaffar and really praises ITBHU team for their effort. Most of the guys in theater were from Meta branch. I do not recollect any more memories of that day. I walk down to G-11 for watching some event. I come to hostel in evening for change. Then I walk down to open space beside SB for next event. It was Rock show by Indian Ocean music band. It was told to me as a legend that they have performed here in 97 and gained huge popularity afterward. Still most of us were unknown to this band potential and music. First, local and visiting rock teams performed, it appears boring to me.Only a crowd of 20-30 people was there to encourage them. Then, comes the band of fusion music.

There was crowd of 50 people in start to watch them. Then the performance began. It was one of the most entertaining night of life.Kandisa, Hille re, Jhini and Bande were mesmerizing. Some times, I do not even understand the lyrics of the song but music was driving me to another realm. With 5 m away from such a music band with free spirit. They performed like auteur without any hypocrisy around them. I have never feel the power of music before that night. It was folk+Sufi+rock fused in music of love.

KashiYatra 2005-4th Day (27/02/2005)

PS:Above photos are of bad quality

Euphoria was coming[Official site]. It was the last day of the event.I rested whole day in my room. Surya snatched my blanket in morning and captured my sensitive pose in camera.I do not have done shave for 1 week and feel very exhausting after 3 days.I do not attend any event that day.I take a shower in evening and become ready to attend Euphoria show.I got the front row with my event management card (jugaad). It was heavily crowded show and got tussled up with huge push from crowd. The barricades were down after few minutes.1000-1500 junta was attending the fusion nite. Our few batch mate attending Techkriti 2005 came back and party becomes rocking...

I have taken few snaps of the event with my prehistoric camera.Digital camera was not even available in our branch then. Summer of 69 was first English song in live concert for me. The show was very good and music flows through our veins.Performing euphoria in our background of college was like dream coming to true. This KY was best in my 4 year span in ITBHU. Really, those were my best days of my life.Last but not least, the official report was published in ITBHU reverberation magazine.

“The annual cultural fiesta of IT-BHU, organized by IT Gymkhana, KashiYatra 05, was held from 24-27th February 2005 at various indoor and outdoor venues in IT-BHU. 17 outstation teams with 288 participants competed with IT-BHU students for excellence in more than 35 different events of art, culture and frolic. The professional performances included a Rock Show by Indian Ocean, a Fusion Nite by Euphoria and a Hindi Kavi Sammelan comprising of seven state and national level poets.”

Suggestions for improvement of ITBHU

Suggestions for improvement of our institute

Note: The following article is written by Himanshu Rai (Mechanical 2008), who feels there is a need to make improvement in the various fields for our institute in particular and for IT-BHU community (students, alumni, faculty, administration) in general. Particularly, it discusses about the issues of conversion to IIT, foreign collaborations, industrial linkage, campus life, curriculum, websites, branding of institute, steps needed for improvement, etc.

He has collected and compiled the information from wide range of sources, including from online discussion groups and by talking to different people. All views expressed are his own, and they are stated in a positive way. He can be contacted at: himanshurai.mec08itbhu@gmail.com)

Save ITBHU

"Greetings,
Recently, I read a news in TOI about the 6 new IITs being preferred over IT BHU. Only low rank holders are opting for BHU. Well, that is pretty normal and I would have also opted for one of the IITs if I were to take the admission.

Why?

- I don't know anything about IT BHU that makes it different from other institutes that admit students through JEE.
- The IT BHU section in the JEE brochure talks more about the trivial details than giving information about the IT BHU's vantage points over the the other Institutes that participate in the admission process.
- It doesn't answer all the questions that come to mind of the students when they opt for a college during the JEE counseling.
- It doesn't talk about IT BHU alumni who have made a difference.
- It doesn't talk about the opportunities a student will get if he opts for IT BHU.
- It doesn't talk about the state of the art facilities, a student will get if he/she joints IT. Actually, we have none so the purpose of mentioning this point is self defeated.
- It doesn't talk about how joining IT would give it's students a head start in their career.

In reality we don't have much to talk about except the placements. Students are not motivated; they keep cribbing; they are in low spirits.

The reasons?? Well there are many
- The curriculum is not interesting. Its a lot theoretical, with very little scope of doing simultaneous practical projects. That is the reason why many ITians go to the IITs for summer internship projects.
- There is lack of facilities and funds for the labs.
- There are no collaborations with research labs and universities.

The only reason for the good placements has been that BHU's linkage with JEE. With the coming of the 6 new IITs, only the low rank holders will join BHU.(I assume BHU will now open around rank 3500 ) This change is surely going to affect the reputation of our Institute. It may happen that no big shot companies will come to the college campus for recruiting.

What can be done?
A lot. Believe me, we can bring the change.
- First of all, there should be common platform where representatives of administration, alumni and students can come together and discuss different things. The administration should give an ear to the things being discussed. So, please register @ http://www.itbhuglobal.org/
- Students should come up and speak out if they are facing any difficulty. It can be about lack of funds or lack of any facility or anything.
- The curriculum should be redesigned to introduce more electives so that students have more choices. Also there should be more opportunities of carrying out research projects .
- Take the example of ISB. It has reserved a place among the top B schools in India in no time. It has made so much progress that people have started to prefer ISB to IIM A. The reason behind this trend is that ISB have done so much to maintain the aura of exclusivity of the Institute. If we can do something similar ISB has done, then there is no doubt that we shall be one of the best engineering colleges in India and who knows JEE toppers might want to join IT BHU instead of joining any other IIT. Our alums are at very prestigious positions and we can come together to make our Institute the best in terms of facilities; in terms of benefits; in terms of academics; in terms of anything that comes to the mind of the students when they opt for a college during the JEE counseling.
- We can collaborate with research labs, universities (if not foreign then at least with Indian big shots such as IITs,IISc, TIFR, ISI ).
- We can sponsor students for filing patents or publishing papers.
- We can donate different software, which students can't afford on their own, to the different department labs.
- All the obsolete courses should be removed from the curriculum.
(There is much more to do)

Something is sought after if it is exclusive.
I am ending this article with a hope that next year IT would come up as a strong contender among the choices of Institutes that participate in JEE. I hope we shall do something about it.

This is part of a mail by an alumnus in ITBHU yahoo groups. I am putting this material in general public to aware the ITians who are not part of these group. This message is really a matter of introspection for ITBHU to stand in the race of best engineering colleges in India.

The Remains of the Day

This post was written in May and saved as draft. I don't want to express my feeling about these beautiful dying moments in words. After a long thinking process, I am publishing about my last days in ITBHU.

A part of me is dying slowly without any whisper.I am not even mourning or thinking about it. Only few days of my precious college life is with me .Clock ticks and a moment is stolen from mine last days in ITBHU.

I feel like a person whose 4 years in ITBHU can reflect on a day's work. Evening is symbolic for last year, when one can look back and assess one's college life. I had never feel so much dejected and sad in 4 years. This moment of separation from beloved college and friends is haunting me. Thought of not coming here in July seems strange to me. Everybody, I shared my best years of life are scattered. We will meet anywhere in future but this chemistry of love and hate will be missing. Fresh air in the morning,Late night outs in semester downloading latest movies from DC++ will be missed by each of us.

The Professional world is coming down to me with a furious pace.Stake of mine survival in professional world of Sharks, piranhas and alligators is very low. I am a lone fish whose only pleasure is his solitude.

I want to make confession on this day. I don't like personally all of the mine colleagues but respect and adore few of them for their brilliance in their area of work. I don't enjoy good relationship with few batch mates but really praise their hard work. I was also saddened by the negative mindset of some people. There is major problem of jealous behavior from most people on others achievement in our college. They make it habit of scrutinizing others hard work under cheap labels. A sense of appreciation of things is missing. I hope that we can mature as a person to enjoy each other success and stand for each other in crisis.

Inspirational Seniors

There were only 3 inspirational seniors for me down these years in ITBHU : Sripati Sah, Varun Grover and Animesh Pathak. Its irony of my fate that they even don't my name. Sripati sir has met with me few times. I talked to Varun sir once on gtalk. I have been encouraged by Animesh sir for one good post on blog. They are more like virtual inspirational source with their qualities in front of me.

Sripati Sah:
I have talked with Sripathi Sah 2 or 3 times during 1st year by giving infeasible idea in model making in Technex-05. After that never, that mighty guy left us for further study to Amherst. I am sure that he cannot even recognize me now. I adore him not for his short attendance (28% excluding B.T.P. in last semester) but for his infinite passion and zeal for ever TAC. Now, I have myself seen all the seasons at ITBHU. Loss of passion and self motivation for improvement is major disease prevailing in this institute. I am also doomed deeply in it. But he was like God between us humans, ever inspiring and full of enthusiasm.

Varun Grover:
Engineering background of an artist always puzzled me. He is role model for me for his literal, theatrical and now cinematic journey. One person perrfectly quoted about him: "He is one of the very few people around me who is so sure of what he wants from life!"
He was the person giving me inspiration to become original and creative. There is a blind race and mob psychology in most of ITians for future career. They do not want to stand alone and make their own way. He has shown me the enlightened way to be original and creative.

Animesh Pathak:
There is no heart more strong than a heart of volunteer. Animesh sir have got that heart. He is very energetic person. To do a commentary as an audience on the problems is always easier than to really get to the ground and solving them. He chooses to solve the problems of his Alma matar. Many of us laments in their whole career about status quo of ITBHU and IIT. None of them volunteer or participate in solving problem at grass root level. He is one of the most easily reached alumni for students. His unending energy gives me inspiration to achieve goals for things we love most.....

This post is not written to drew attention but to pay my respect to seniors whom I admire most.

Me & DC++ in ITBHU

As a student of ITBHU, I graduated as a mechanical engineer; I posses only scare knowledge about computer software. But I admire people and their work in the field of software. I have job offer from two software companies. Despite of my ignorance of this field, I really like to congrats the makers of DC++; To all other ignorant people, DC++ is free and open source peer to peer file sharing client having unlimited file sharing option.

DC++ is the best software used by me till this date. I was novice to the name of any software in 1st year and did not posses any computer. There were only three PC in the whole branch in first year. But 2nd year was like mutation for our branch. Half of the branch was well equipped with different models of PC. But there was a big problem in front of us. The hard disk of each PC was scarcely loaded due to lack of data.

There was establishment of LAN headed by trio of monty, sandu , gopu and rajjo; Me and Monty were collecting money from our branch for LAN wires. All of us were suddenly connected by thin wires and hub from room to room. Network place was full of computer of different domains. But this intra-hostel connection was not enough for guys like me. We were seeking for more flow of data (hardly any study material contaminated in it).It was like traces of study material mixed with high dose of movies, music, games, adult material and software.

Then monty and rajjo did the magic trick for us. They find about this pre-existing and used software named DC++; All of ITBHU was suddenly connected to each other by this software. This year was marked with the end of cyber café and CD/DVD rental shop. Internet was directly provided by BHU in our room. It was splendid feeling of the change or seeing the revolution through your own eyes. All of us had feelings that we are here as student in ITBHU when things are changing rapidly in right direction.

They were great days in ITBHU for me. I was movie lover from the childhood, but such vast collection of almost everything was available in front of me. It was like sharing of information for public use. People have generally 40GB Hard disk in their computer. DC++ was like a knowledge hub. Each user contributes his drop of knowledge to the ocean of knowledge.

Beauty of DC++ lies in the discontinuous downloading and automatic alternative search option. In the network, you have to search from user to user for his shared stuff. It was not necessary that we get data (mostly movies) of ours choice. But DC++ allowed you to search like searching engines on the internet. In the network if downloading if the connection is lost, all the data will be null. You have to begin downloading form start. DC++ allows you to download from that point only when user or network is reconnected. One more vital point was search for alternative sources and downloading from multi-users at a rapid speed (1Mb/sec). That was splendid for me if not for most of mine technocratic brothers.

Now times were changing. Apex DC++, LDC++ & Strong DC++ were new versions of DC++. In the primate version, we can download from only one user. But as we technically advance with semester, multi-user downloading was incorporated. People were going for hard disk of higher memory capacity and 160 GB was now normal.60GB per user (up to 300 users) was seen in my last days at institute. 17.73TB of data was shared for public use and entertainment.
We cannot ignore the hub owners and downloader’s in this discussion. I can remember the name(nick) of users like Prof, Deeejam, Loverboy, Bluerose, Maharavana, rksmet, Aks, spider and bazooka etc .They were guys with of lot of real good stuff to share. I was there with name of 'yayaver' in the last year with lot of foreign cinema stuff. I have marked all my movies with their name and IMDB rankings just to ensure comfort to downloaders.

Song, Movies, Software, Games, Serials and R.B. were just one click away from you. But now they are parts of old memories which will never depart from us. Such were good old days !!! Me speaking formally: DC++ is an example of cooperative development movement of knowledge sharing in the educational institute.

Mine Graduation Years

The quality of a university is measured more by the kind of student it turns out than the kind it takes in. If this is parameter of measuring my career development in ITBHU, I am both amused and amazed.

The reason for amazement is mine area of interest. It had changed dramatically from past. I had stumbled across Brand named I.I.T. after passing 10+2 exams. I consider myself good in Physics, Chemistry and Maths with lot of positive attitude. Then,I patronize only two things: Movies and challenging questions in P.C.M. (Physics, Chemistry and Maths).

Today, I remember PCM as percentage male character. Thats the ugly but naked part of me. I learned a valuable lesson now at the verge of graduation. If you are good in P.C.M., then it is not necessary that you will definitely succeed in engineering career.

The reason of amusement is the impact of university and friends on my personal development. There is such flow of knowledge available in the college that is beyond imagination. Even though it is a engineering college, there are bond guys in field of academics, music, sports, theater & technology. I was lucky to be part of such geniuses as college mates. It reveals the basic fact that diversity of species in ecosystem lead to better evolution.(Biological law applied successfully on an engineering college [:D])

I was full of energy, enthusiasm and determined to make point at time of joining. But, I was not molded for engineering stream. I was curious, original but not creative enough for engineering. I have prepared a chart of mine professional and personal gain and loss simultaneously in these years.

Year

Optimistic Gain

Pessimistic Loss

1st

Evolution from a school boy to college Student i.e. Fun loving creature

Loss of Enthusiasm for academics and frustration over system irregularities.

2nd

Excited about prospective Mechanical engineering

Illusions of interests in professional field due to lack of proper guidance & negligence of studies

3rd

Hope for better projects & internship. Shaping my career profile.

Poor academics and fall of grades. Charm of engineering is over.

4th

Vision of mine future is clear. A sense of renunciation is in mind. Securing Jobs in hand.

Relaxation and carelessness about projects, studies & everything just flourished.

It was a pleasure to work with persons from different geographical and mental background. I enjoyed several positive changes in front of me in this institute. Internet connection, Wi-Fi Project, Availability of E-Journals, Activation of institute email id's, library computerization and several other things gives the positive input for institute and students.

From now on, I will carry a brand name of ITBHU on my shoulders with dignity and respect. I may not choose my life as a technocrat but these four years have left mark on me. I am proud to be called as alumnus of ITBHU.

Declaration of Independence of Mechanical Engineer@ ITBHU

I have become Mechanical Engineer!!
Today,
Roll no. 20040603 proclaim the independence of himself from Mechanical Engineering Department.
I have become free.
I am free from clutches of Mechanical Engineering Department.
I am free from bondage of teachers, grades (Not Applicable for me), department and university.

The joy is not on surface. It is deep within the soul. A calm relaxation is filling my soul.
It feels like a dream after rigorous tussle of me vs department from 3 years.
Endless circle of Attendance, Labs, Classes and Exams are over.

For 4 years,I was tortured by this perfect system (Super strong on papers) and now I am the distinguished alumni of 2008 Batch.

I have crossed the Baitarani river of Mech. Eng. @ ITBHU.
For naives, Baitarani river is South Gate of hell for the sinners who suffer the worst tortures in the river that holds 'boiling hot blood and flesh.

For no dues ,only few administrative loopholes are to be filled.
All the B.Tech. and B.T.P. viva is over;
The end of engineering era is done for me.

Till results are announced,i enjoy myself as a 8/8 Mechanical Engineer.
#The shadows of supplementary exams are not coming till 24th, hence a sense of relief is there.I have not got any backlog in 7th sem. and hoping same luck for 8th sem.#
I have great regards for Sharma Sir and and Zaheer Sir for their care.
Now, its time to say GoodBye to Department.

"Aaj Shaam Deprtment ke samne jashn hoga";

Indian Premier League

Indian Premier League
Cricket is a game of more controversy than any other sports played in India. After so much debacle and speculation, I.P.L. has kicked off. My loyalty towards India is questioned for first time. I do not have interest in domestic matches but cannot ignore such mouth watering contest. I have to take sides and feeling of regionalism has just started. Whole country is in front of Television set and enjoying the brutal hitting of BB McCullum. Odds are against by bet,but i place my money on Bangalore Royal Challengers. Even SRK and Preity Zinta are enjoying with me in IPL due to high amount of money!!!!
Gear Up and enjoy a new version of Cricket Fever....

Vote of thanks to Chammo

#Original Image is removed at the humble and insisting request of the Chammo;

Statutory Note: This post contain an explicit material belonging to a real person named Chammo. Any other coincidence will be considered purely imaginary and out of space.

In the last moment of our journey of 4 years, I am privileged to give vote of thanks to Chammo. Presence of Chammo in mechanical shows that our batch is just lucky to get her through JEE Counseling.

It is a heartily pleasure from middle of our legs to announce my thankfulness to Chammo. She had labored hard for providing us comfort and intense pleasure. She enjoyed her profession and indulged in it without caring throughout day and night. I wish for her great future and prosperity.

Legend of Chammo began from 1st year only."Chammo" name was first quoted by her city mate Tintin. From then,it had became a brand in the market. 2006 Batch of Computer Science were the first customers outside our batch. Chammo provides service to our batch without charging single penny. Such was compassion and love of Chammo towards our Mechanical-2008 Batch. Today, Chammo has excessive number of clients not confined within hostel but spread through out the university. It was her time managing and networking skills due to which, she is one of the successful ESCORT in the history of ITBHU. Name and Fame of Chammo has raised at new horizons through her professional entrepreneurship. In the 4 years, no. of customer of Chammo has even crossed the sales record of Maruti-800. Data of customer cannot be expressed here due to corporate bondages.

Capacity of Chammo cannot be expressed in the words. She is like Mansarovar. In exam times of heavy stress, she goes from room service with heavy duty blow jobs.Chammo does not insist for using condom for any guy of our batch due to mutual trust relationship. She heavily favors open relation with us and thin boundary protection of latex from others.

Looking in her personal life is full of fun and excitement. She had became fully commited to C. Vikramraj Naidu (040660) from 1st year only. Despite many lucrative offers, she remained room mate of Naidu for 2 years. We are also grateful to Naidu for sharing Chammo without any sour feelings. Sandu has even dedicated and composed 3 songs with his crude voice on her to show his shear love and passion. I had also made a video on Chammo but was lost due to hard disk crash.

Another aspect of Chammo had been completely untouched and unseen by most of our fellows. Till 3rd year,Chammo acts like encyclopedia of stupidity. You cannot ignore her comment on any never heard stuff. She had caught habit of opening her mouth in every discussion without having any clue of debate due to her professional job. It was massive effort of gang of me, hathi, bond, shukla and chandu to get rid of her habit. Now, she is fully recovered from this habit and enjoys healthy and sexy relation with us. She is now trademarked with her Bulldog faced smile in the lobby of 2008 Mechanical Batch.

Not only some innocent students are victims of her sex appeal, but some teachers also fall out in the booby trap. All of us know about it and this restricted matter will not be discussed at public place.

In the end a big FCUK and gang bang encounters to Chammo will be kind enough to express your feeling towards ours lovely and adorable Chammo.

All comments are invited here and must be posted to show his /her heartily feeling towards Chammo.

A morning scene in ITBHU

It sounds like freaking topic on first view to write on my blog. It seems like a school essay “A Morning scene in the village”. Hence, we should cut the crap part of its resemblance with any other topic and stop making parody of it. The scene is actually damn funny if you are involved in it. Now I will optimize the situation. An ITian really enjoyed the situation best if he is in 4th year. With a job in the pocket, you feel like a saint devoid of worldly pleasures. Also to remind that winter will be best season to describe the scene.

When the fog is in the air and sun is behind clouds, it makes you little more than lazy. But you have to get up for classes. The reason behind that is simple. It is due to short attendance. Hence all of us are in awkward position of presenting physically but sleeping mentally in classes.

Alarm bell rings at its natural time of just few minutes before 8’o’clock. You whisper 'WTF' in your dream. Some harsh sound is threatening to destroy your romantic or wet dream. You shut the alarm off. Plight of student reaches peak on snoozing of alarm. Despite in what year you are, only one word will express the heartily feelings”FUCK”. It also sucks specially on Monday. Hey, it’s just another dull day in the boring life before weekends.

In 1st year, I would wake up and say, “Hey man, mark my proxy in the class”. 10 persons would go and 40 will be class strength in attendance register. Ahh those Golden Days!!!!

In 2nd year, some guy will shake me to attend classes. I will open my eyes with uneasiness and recall that I am in department right now. I must attend classes. Now came in life the Silver Days!!!

In 3rd year, I would rise by remembering my short attendance, grades and image of a strict professor. That's bronze period due to your struggle for training and tension for next year placement.

But 4th year is the ultimate. All the wise and cool guys are sleeping. Dead silence is spread in the lobby of 4th year. The attitude is simple "attendance will come through BTP". These are Diamond days of engineering. I am feeling it right now.

These scheduling do not operate on a GMAT. I think that all the ITians know the full form of this word. It is the highest abuse from anybody to a cool guy.

Not diverging from the topic anymore, we will move ahead in post. In morning you can go easily in the toilets in ITBHU, 0.8 toilets per 100 students. What a hectic day!! One have to control their shit and wait in queue for toilets. 3 guys are just ahead of you and you can feel the pressure in your stomach. Man, this is the real test of character and patience of a guy. Now, only 50% of guy will take bathe in the morning. These figures are quite high and less than 10% is easily achieved in winter days. Time swings away and I am ready for class. It is exactly 8’o’clock. You must not forget an important point here. Witness the fact, no one even worship God (if it exists) on an empty stomach. How can ITian attend such boring lectures without breakfast? Hence, most of guy march ahead to LC or mess. With handful of bread butter and a cup of tea, they fulfill their mind and soul. Now, we all move towards our respective departments. Till 8:30 most of the batch makes up to lectures. Oh! That is the end of the beautiful morning scene and start of super boring classes.

I forgot to mention that all of us look to VT in our way to class. We appreciate its beauty and want to get grace from BABA VISHWANATH. These are best days of my life whether you agree or not? Check also one more post by me on morning scene.

Anti-NET Surfing Laws in ITBHU

What an average guy of ITBHU wants in his span of 4 years stay at institute with B. Tech degree. A little bit of free space and time taken from society to live best years of his life. He enjoys his life to full extent with little bit of studies of engineering. Most of guys aim for MBA, GRE, Core area or a Software job. Nothing more and nothing less is expected. He is self content with his studies, entertainment and extra circular activities. Surfing Internet is primary pass time for ITians except playing games on LAN or watching movies.

He surfs Internet, watch movies (rarely porn) but all in limits. Guys uses proxy server to open the ORKUT or any other website (for minor purpose) banned by CC at ITBHU. Now all this is going to be changed by the shrewd behavior of our college.

Now new software has been in testing condition by CC. They are using software called Websense. Some of the affected sites are imdb, YouTube, cricinfo, stage6 etc. It is the courtesy of this software that blogging is also banned. On putting my blog address, it replies that the Websense category "Social Networking and Personal Sites" is filtered.

I am blogging this in night after 12’o’clock. Now, that will be the time for entertainment. Anyone wise enough can tell that banning site like cricinfo, imdb, santabanta is insane. They also do not put a heavy load on server. Hardly any student can read news all the time and closed its room for entertainment. To enjoy life and build career is the basic philosophy of student life.

Surfing the Internet is not a big issue to blow up but due to courtesy of CC it became. They can counter-claim that downloading movies, games, songs are misuse of Internet provided in the hostel. But any student will denies the fact that he did not watch movie or play games.CC has crossed the limits of power by banning all sites that fall under the category 'entertainment' , 'streaming media' , 'hacking' , 'proxy avoidance' to name a few there may be more categories We guys need to something about it. Even Wikipedia states that "It has come under criticism from civil liberties groups on grounds that it restricts the free flow of speech".

PS some of the affected sites are imdb, youtube, cricinfo, stage6, blogger, most of the forums etc..... About WEBSENSE in the public forum : “Hehe, the whole idea of Websense is so you cannot bypass it. The only way you will get this to work is by using an anonymous type proxy that Websense have not yet classified in their database. The other issue you will have is if your organization is running the Websense Webcatcher. This will send a list of uncategorized website to Websense. The more hits they get the high up the list for checking it goes so it basically gets added into their database quicker.”

It sounds patriotic but this is time for all of us to stand together and fight for free voice. If this websense is put by force then student community will find a way to nullify it. Because this is a challenge for ITians to counter these preservative measures. I hope that authorities will realize that buying software like websense will be wastage of money for ITBHU.
