My views in yours words

"Blogging won't make you a millionaire, so you should only blog if you love doing it. If you don’t enjoy yourself, your readers won’t enjoy reading your blog." -- Unknown.
It is the first step for start of writing original writeup only. This post is written in the series of flushing collection of other peoples writing from my mind. Reminder, this post is full of plagiarism.

Education-- Tell me about yourself: a brief introduction, talk about your skills relevant to the position, experience are transferable to position available and career objective. It is the sort of basic questions faced by us. For me, a college degree shows not that its holder has learned something but rather that he is the kind of person who could learn something. Today, a hybrid talk on education.

Schools or Universities are places where most young people come together crossing the old boundaries of religion and caste. It is here where the new nation is being constructed in the minds of coming generation.

"Universities, are no longer ivory towers. They were meant to remain above politics, but are very at the very centre of it." -Deepak Nayyar former VC of Delhi University.
In the process of discovering alien side of things, one begins to lose one's identity and falls into the trap of becoming an alienated person contemptuous of everything natural and uniquely inherited in him. Rote memorizing involves the brutal repetition of material just as it stands. The fidelity of memory is greatly affected by the intention. Students like me make a great mistake when they study for the purpose merely of retaining until after examination time. We retain facts after they are once impressed. The ability of retention purely depends upon the way it is impressed onto the brain. Recall is the stage at which material that has been impressed and retained is recalled to serve the purpose for which it was memorized. Recall is thus the goal of memory. Whenever a remembered fact is recalled, it is accompanied by a characteristic feeling which we call the feeling of recognition. It has been described as a feeling of familiarity, a glow of warmth, a sense of ownership, a feeling of intimacy. I learned in graduate school that "knowledge is power" but found that it is not correct ! Knowledge is 'potential' power depending upon how it is applied (if it is applied at all.) It's not what you know, but how you use what you know !!!

Work environment of the place can make any job or academics interesting or boring. Choosing a field and being adamant about it is just restricting yourself unnecessarily. Interest is not something which a profile can develop, it depends more of on the work environment you nurture your mind in. When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare or compete, everybody will respect you.

Cinema--
The majority of people retain better things that are visually impressed. Hence, cinema can be consider as more effective tool than literature for spreading awareness. The idea is to engage an audience and uplift them in some way and take them into an experience which is emotional at many levels. Cinema no more reflects the society because we no more live in a society. Today we live in a market. And like all other products the market forces also control cinema. In the words of Sudhir Mishra - A great film is a film where you lose the distinction between how a tale is told and the tale itself; where there is an investigation into the truth but simultaneously the idea of being wrong is also present. You want to know the truth but when you reach it you also have an idea that maybe that’s not it. A genuinely vibrant cinema that does not necessarily have to be realistic or naturalistic. All we have to do is not to succumb to those who force to mimic or imitate in the name of 'inspiration'.

Cricket--
A wise team does not depend on recoveries. Cricket is a simple game that can be made to sound very complicated. The people who do the simple things well are the people who are most successful. Simple is repeatable and repeatable is successful. Cricket is execution not a game. Cricket is an isolating and yet public game. Soccer players suffer when they miss a penalty. Cricketers risk that collapse every time they go out to bat. It is not a sport at all, it's an execution. --- Peter Roebuck

Talking about Cinema

Cinema:
Experience is the art, expression is the craft. All good writing is intuitive writing . . . (And) principles (rules) begin to guide your intuition.”Learning scriptwriting has to be powered by your desire to write.” Structure will help you tell your story the way you want to."[pfc]

Don’t talk of motion pictures, talk of emotion pictures.
A film is not merely meant for amusement. A good film stays with you as a rich experience. It creates a certain impact: emotional, political or intelligent. Dibakar Banarjee mingles Hrishikesh da’s realistic “common man and his plight story” with a pinch of surrealistic humor and creates a unique style of his own. There is always a desire to achieve something and an obstacle in the way of it.

Quotes on Directing, Scriptwriting and Creativity.

Just for quote:
In the movie, The Killing(1956) the Russian wrestler Maurice, who delivers an interesting monologue about gangsters and artists being the same in the eyes of the masses. "They are admired and hero-worshipped, but there is always present an underlying wish to see them destroyed at the peak of their glory.”

A must read for those who concern that cinema must be seen with brain intact to body.
Festivals, Awards, Celebrities, Recognition – But where is Indian Cinema?

Montage

“Do not call it Bollywood. This is a very wrong thing to call it. We are not trying to copy Hollywood. We are making films for an audience of a billion people. Over 80% of these people don’t have enough food in their bellies. Our country does not provide its people with pool halls, basketball courts and video parlours, so we make films for them that will let them forget their lives for 3 hours. We create total fantasy, not the polished reality that Hollywood portrays. Never forget that, never forget that we are making films that allow people to believe for 3 hours that they are not poor and hungry”.

Subhash Ghai, Indian filmmaker, producer...etc.

Vichaar Shoonya -3

Nothing personal and original from my side. Weblinks of adapted material will be given in few days. Enjoy this compiled series.

1-Beauty is a mood of your mind that is experienced if you care to notice. Appreciate the difference because beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Are you a beautiful mind? Do you seek beauty?

2-India, democracy has not allowed the rule of the majority. issue after issue, state after state is that powerful minorities landed interests have been able to capture the political system and extract government benefits for themselves. Most people, I suspect, just want to get on with life, raising their families, doing their work, enjoying some good times between the cradle and the grave.

3- Guru, is one of the most important works of Indian cinema to emerge post economic liberalization that gives Indian entrepreneurs their due representation. In a resounding voice it proclaims a paradigm shift in the middle class morality that has made being money-minded and profit-oriented acceptable today. A well deserved farewell to left-leaning portrayal of industry and capitalism. A salute to the proletarian capitalist.

4.In Indian films the alienation of the rural poor from the urban way of life has become cliched. What we require is some kind of synthesis of the two with our past and heritage. They are, I feel working with a totally Western idiom (cinema). Using the same techniques and the same chemistry, can we evolve a new form, a new sensibility? Dance song is part of our folk culture. We blame that our society is not conductive to promote creative films. People and society were just as bad in other times also. The genuine creative people make a way around to make their point and entertain the society as well. Either in cinema or any other field, the great ones always face a hostile social order. Still they don't get in general populace and make safe and ordinary creation.

5-Let me become little autobiographic. I want to reach such stage where remains no hard feelings for anyone .Wanna be writer as Karl Marx. Marx early formative years through school were full of influence by Immanuel Kant and Voltaire. They were some of his favorite authors; a characteristic blend of German profundity and French subversive wit. No nation has produced better essayists than France, none has produced better composers than the Germans, better painters than the Italians, nor better novelists than the Russians. And the English? The English do poetry.

What good is cinema if it trails behind literature ?

Rissent put it, “It’s not about just loving a film, and one must love it for the right reasons.

Why I lament again and again as stubborn child on the lack of the better films in the mainstream cinema? I find exact words for my pain in writings of Nitish : 'In every other profession, work or hobby people have the right to be intelligent but in cinema its considered a sin- Intellect is bad for health and bad for cinema.'

If cinema is for entertainment only, then literature should be used as medium of entertainment only. Premchand should be rated below Chetan Bhagat and gossip columns should be inserted into our academics for enhancing the escapism only.

The purpose of a film should not be to alienate people in escapism. Cinema is there for reflecting our lives, dreams, ambition and hidden desires on the celluloid. Better films are needed to fill the void of good commercial cinema. Further, quoting my friend Nitish: It's our duty to inform that Andre Bazin existed and so did Ritwik Ghatak from villages to towns, to cities and metroes to everyone and anyone... who have a second to spare.

Dynasticism in bollywood or politics generates a conservative non-thinker spoiled brat that comes from sucking too hard on a silver spoon for generations. Hence the fortress bollywood remain unbreached for new ideas and concepts. Let us evolve as an audience and give chance to film makers to evolve or extinct from the face of the Indian cinema. I believe that we have lot of unique things to offer to the world through this cinematic medium.
For going into detail of the topic,go through these web links....

1- A cinephile, Anuj explores on the perennial advise everyone has "Why don't you go and make movies in Bombay" for changing the scenario of Indian Cinema.

2-A unique comparison of Independent Cinema with free software movement.- "Do You want to make a film (Open Cinema Foundation)"

3-Muzaffer Ali explore the place of Bollywood in the world cinema and ground realities about fall of Indian cinema into abyss.

4-Corporates are not only exploiting natural resources, they also endangers cinema by making it as consumer product like coke or Pepsi. Hence a look on independent cinema in this equation by K. Hariharan

5-Discussion on cinema and literature by Gulzar, Javed Akhtar and UR Anathamurthy and on the need for filmmakers to live the written word before attempting it on celluloid.

--- Finally, an article to support cinema as greater medium than literature by thorough analysis.

India like every year is missing in action at Cannes Film Festival but not film stars with Indian media asking questions to stalwarts of world cinema “Do you watch bollywood movies?"

I want these bollywood crazy media guys to be rebuked by a white Caucasian guy heavily and telling them to watch cinema of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, John Barua, Kumar Sahini, Mani Kaul or Shyam Benegal. And atleast know the name of Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak or Mrinal Sen. I want to see the ashamed and amazed faces of bollywood stars and crazy Indian media on knowing existence of these unknown genius of Indian cinema by distant foreigners. Is this mine day dream or just hidden pain....

3 Anecdotes & a Joke

For the sake of blogging, three abstract thoughts that influenced me in 3 days. And a quite old joke which makes me laugh even today.

1-There is an interesting anecdote from a Godard film. In one of his film a daughter asked her father, “Papa, tell me how do we know a person is trustworthy”, her papa replied, ask him whether he loves reading? And if he replies Balzac, Shakespeare, Homer…move on, but if he asks you.” What do you mean by reading?” there is hope. [Origin]

2-As per Rabindranath Tagore's famous poem, when God told Valmiki to write the Ramayana, the life-story of a king yet to be born, Valmiki reportedly asked God: "But how can I write an accurate account of what has not even happened?"God then told Valmiki: "It does not matter what Rama will be or what he will do. What the ages will remember is simply what you shall write. That will be the only truth." Origin]

3-A sage who had retired to the hills since many decades was once cajoled by his disciples to come down and experience the plains. One of the disciples was the probing kind; he was well read, intelligent, and full of rationale. When Swamiji reached the city, the disciple managed to convince him for an outing to a multiplex, very reluctantly though. The movie was a typical bollywood potboiler filled with every conceivable emotion on earth. Swamiji sat through the entire movie unflinchingly. At the end of the movie, as every one tried to make way towards the exit, the disciple asked, “What was the experience like, Swamiji?”

Swamiji replied, “As long as there was darkness there was love, hate, sadness, laughter, violence, and lust, but all of it dissolved the moment there was light." That was all he saw. [Origin]

Joke: An old joke in Delhi went like this: Police teams from all over the world participated in a lion-capturing competition. At the end of the day, all the police teams had returned -- some successful, some not -- except the Delhi Police. So the organisers went to look for them, and found them with a bear that they had captured, thrashing the animal mercilessly and shouting, "बोल, तू शेर है!" ("Admit it, you're a lion!")

One day..

If the rating of movie 'Black' is 6/10 and 'Sparsh' is 8/10, then The Color of Paradise (Rang-e khoda) stands alone with 10/10. I have never seen a simply perfect film on blindnesss. No great star cast or cliched story. A movie with few dialouges and beautiful camera movement. Above all, the emotional bonding of the film with viewers is amazing, Just give it a try..

One dialouge makes me cry, the emotion outburst from inside....All intellectualism sublime and tear drops naturally...

Mohammad (Blind Boy): [crying] Our teacher says that God loves the blind more because they can't see. But I told him if it was so, He would not make us blind so that we can't see Him. He answered "God is not visible. He is everywhere. You can feel Him. You see Him through your fingertips." / Now I reach out everywhere for God till the day my hands touch Him and tell Him everything, even all the secrets in my heart.

His words wrap the emotions in timeless moments and will remain with me throughout my life. But, No metaphor or word can explain my feeling at the moment...

I recommond this movie as must must watch to everyone.....

How to enrich taste of the Good Cinema?

"No one is born with the brain of Truffaut, we grow as a cinephile in this world only." -Himanshu Rai (1985-)

Cinema as an art or a form of expression – including creative expression and timelessness. The understanding of film and filmmaking through critical, theoretical analysis (objective criticism) must be pursued. They are a bunch of heavy words, but 'how' is the main question.

Self-indoctrination in learning to 'read' a film involved watching films regularly, in various languages, from various corners of the world, ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime!. The versatile diversity of the cinema can be felt by watching movies in all languages (off-course subtitles embedded). You can feel the adrenaline rush of the action movie but sometimes pathos and ecstasy become memorable (ex- Life is Beautiful and The Truman Show). Movie watching is for open and broad-minded people. It has been never created for pseudo-intellectual or cult followers.

7 Point Tip:

1--*Money Matters*
-Do not go for a film by reading only one review/preview about a film. Read at least 5 to 10 reviews about it. Remember review/ preview is not only about the synopsis of the plot.

-Check the rating on IMDB or rotten tomatoes about the film. You will get a very sound idea about the genre and background theme of the film.

-Discuss the movie after watching it. Without sharing your feedback, the whole purpose of watching the film will be lost.

-It is not necessary for you to watch the first show on the first day unless you are a big fan of the artist or director. Wait for 2,3 days, and the word will spread by mouth to mouth about any movie. But do not get hooked by the strong conviction of friends as the taste of cinema is unique and individualistic.

-Watch NDTV Lumiere and UTV World Movies along with other English movie channels. And go for DD Loksabha for good regional cinema of India.

A few websites like Indianauteur, Senses of Cinema, Dearcinema, and Passionforcinema are fully devoted to cinema lovers. Personally, I always go through them for various references.

-Illegal way but download movie from the torrents.

2-Escapism & Counter Arguments:
There is an inherent laziness in the audience and critics about films that are "about" something. We settle into a comfortable position and expect easy plots or 'armchair' cinema. The passion and pursuit for quality are lost somewhere with a loss of curiosity and wonder. It’s not a film that can be judged only by how much it entertained you, rather it’s a film that should be judged by how it made you go home and feel guilty/joyous all over again, even years after viewing. Although films may entertain, they also educate, indoctrinate, and even captivate the mind. Realizing that a movie can be experienced from a variety of perspectives—cultural, ideological, and aesthetic. The knowledgeable filmgoer should approach the experience with a receptive mind, open to the possibility of not only entertainment but enlightenment.

3-Discover for excellence and quality in the search for true cinema:
Remember, all our lives, we have been asked to believe that "quality matters, not quantity"? Similarly, in the case of movies, it is the quality (content) of the movie that matters, not its running time or skin show. No one likes the pace of Pather Panchali on viewing 1st time at the tender age of 10. It appears to be slow and dragging. A 5-year-old child cannot even understand the poetry of Kahlil Gibran, leave the appreciation part. A boy learns the alphabet, sentences, grammar, and metaphors and progressively puts his emotions in words with the upcoming age. Finally, the child becomes matures to appreciate the poetry. The same rule holds for cinema lovers. He/She must search, discuss, and learn about good movies. One will generate a taste of his own in cinema viewing, a more unique in each sense gradually.

4-Perception:
When an average moviegoer starts watching films, he views the different images of his country both geographically and timely. The perception of India as the land of elephants, Maharajas, and snakes was projected first in Western films. Then it changed to the land of yoga, Kamasutra, ganja, and Hare Rama, Hare Krishna movement. Now it's being replaced by other images like the land of slums and IT professionals. The maturation of film lovers and filmmakers happens simultaneously.

5-Solitude provokes emotion:
Some movies like 'Shatranj ke Khilari' or 'Dead Poet's Society' require the right kind of mindset and environment to be involved with it. Those who want to watch the film should make it personal and private viewing. As lovemaking is different than sex, similarly the intimacy with the subtle layer of film is made possible in solitude. The mass gathering just camphorated the feeling inherited in the film due to several interruptions or distractions. When you sit alone in the darkened room, the right mood evokes the emotion from inside you. The pathos or gentle humor of the sound or scene is deeply absorbed by the subconscious. The sense of understanding cinematic art develops inside you. I am giving emphasis on the fact that one-to-one involvement with maestro/masterpieces gives a different sense of learning to student. The silence invokes an array of thoughts harmonized with a sense of wonder and appreciation. The aesthetic feeling grows and takes your ideas in a unique way.

6-Involve yourself in learning things refined and culturally rich:
Cinema is not created just as an idea or reflection of our lives but generated mainly by our association with the characters, story, and vision of mankind. Question the norm of society and sometimes also become outraged by asking the limits of art. When you are watching any movie, look for insightful meaning also. It will not happen in the first viewing but patience pays. Patronize art, as it brings inside out while fashion brings outside in. It will help you to understand the world around you and help in evolve from regional influence to a global point of view on any matter. Do not be stuck to your lingual films, but venture into another regional and international level. You have the full potential to understand anything.

7-Cinema is an art for those who believe the film is not only about entertainment but about taking it home in your mind and you have paid for the two hours. Give the thumb down to thumb rule of any critics. Think for yourself, if my 7 steps are flawed, refine them for a better version. Learn right, not rote.

Sorry for being rude in the end, If you like my opinions...Raise your hands, If not...then Raise your standards...!!!

Musical Movies

You can consider me illiterate in my knowledge of English songs and western music.Previous musical English movies viewed by me were mainly biographic or romantic with music taking back seat, except Amadeus. The list goes like this:The Pianist, Ray, Walk the Line , Music and Lyrics & Leggenda del pianista sull'oceano, La long time ago.

I recently watched 4 movies of music genre depicting life of those attached to them. All of them were different but really very good attempt in honest film making. First 3 ones were purely musical in sense. In last one,the main character was closely associated to me.So these recommendation are for evolving 'Rock On!!' fans if they love music.
Almost Famous -Fantasy.An Excellent Original Insight Into The 70's Rock Scene. But I like cool and fantastic dialogues of this movie.Once -Reality. A nice, small & honest movie in a Low Budget Charmer. It is just making of song if looked through glasses of mind. The Commitments -Amalgam of fantasy and reality.Raw story of Rise and fall of Irish band. But the high point comes when a line touches the soul of the movie. A character 'Joey'quotes : You're missin' the point. The success of the band was irrelevant - you raised their expectations of life, you lifted their horizons. Sure we could have been famous and made albums and stuff, but that would have been predictable. This way it's poetry.
Now,High Fidelity changes all the perception about love and life.I do not exactly like it for music but the obsession of character with music brings me near to him.I associate with him very easily as me being highly addicted to movies.I am mirror image of that guy.Spoiler alert: I do not have any GF in my life till now like main lead of High Fidelity.

Just wanna say in end that ---
Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.

Talk about Films

Statutory warning: This post is not for cinephiles. Read on your own behalf and brain storming in comments is not needed. After dedicating many years of life in watching cinema from bhojpuri to french lingua, I have made futile attempt for penning about typical films in punch lines.

Genrealization of commercial film texture from the World Cinema:

a Korean film: Mostly romantic, where humiliation and love always seem to share a symbiotic relationship.

a French film: Mostly Thriller, where very tight bound script with dynamic camera involves you till end with sensitive sex scenes.

an American (Hollywood) film: Mostly sci fic/action ,where hyper specialized persons working in a team to fight alien problem to save humanity with loads of ammunition.Horror films need special mention as Blood flows like water with scattered body pieces and sex part is quite wild & erotic in them.

an Italian film: Mostly memoirs which revolve around a character with nostalgic music filling the environment.

a Spanish film: Presence of homosexuals/surrealism almost guaranteed with strong female characters.

a British film: Depicting highly elite or common man lifestyle with a unique sense of humor or based on Shakespearean plot.

a Japanese film: Samurai stuff with characters having extreme pride with death integral part of the movie.

a German film: World war,Holocaust and Berlin wall. Nothing more ,nothing less.

a Chinese film: Hero skilled in Martial art at shaolin temple taking revenge on villain who had killed his master in past.

a Middle East film: They alienate or exile every good film maker in the name of Islam.

a Russian film: Every genre is touched to promote communist propaganda.Hell for free thinking artist.

an Indian (Bollywood) film: Zenith of emotional Drama and item dance with illogical adaption of plagiarized Hollywood script. Social message is must with honest gareeb lover fighting with corruption and mafia in the adrenaline charged jingoistic movie.

Ok, Enough of my talk about films. Let us now discover India. Do you know about India?
If you say yes, then surf other websites. If no, then you are welcome here to remove your ignorance. Read the conspiracy theory/urban legends about India written by genius bong : Urban Legends and Not Growing up - Part 1 & Part 2.

Raise Independent Voice

Q: Why I write my amateur opinion on every topic?

"If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing." [Courtesy Sreekanth Naidu ]. Line to inspire this post is quoted above. It is a tool to raise independent voice. The greed or ambition of conveying owns voice to everyone is secondary motto in everyone writing. Here comes a bizarre collection of wisdom words below.

There came a adsense offer which attracts me to sponsor the blog with advertising. I resisted the idea long ago, and continue to resist it. After all their is a difference between a Blog and a ad magazine. My blog is a forum of discussion of diverse points of view independent of commercial liabilities. The material can be adapted or copied from other source of which I am merely the convener or distributor. The other, a commercial enterprise for the benefit of the owners presenting a particular view point. I write blog to express our thoughts clearly, not for any ZYX company. Blog is like free software movement which has changed the whole scenario of IT industry. It will become the face of free media in future.

Now main concern here is independent voice in every aspect of work or art. For detail read this[3] cocktail of cinema and free software movement.

Read one more good article about independent cinema[2]:
Independent film sensation like Reservoir Dogs, Little Miss Sunshine or Juno. These aspiring filmmakers often work day-jobs while they pitch their scripts to independent film production companies, talent agents, and wealthy investors. Independent movie-making has also resulted in the proliferation and re-popularisation of short films and short film festivals. Full-length films are often showcased at film festivals such as the Sundance Film Festival and the Slamdance Film Festival. Although the concept of independent films is not new to India, the trend is catching up vehemently in the last couple of years. With emergence of a new breed of filmmakers with small-budget films like Bheja Fry, Mixed Doubles, Khosla ka Ghosla, Indian films are breathing afresh."

Hoping for the best for indie films like Frozen and Gulabi Talkies. Wanting to share a trick of independent cinema movement directors: "Talk is cheap; action is expensive."

Read a beautiful line few days ago [1]:'Today, the world is in the midst of an economic, social and environmental crisis that is overturning much conventional wisdom. The best course of action is to tackle it head-on with new ideas and paradigms, fostering an environment that rewards creativity and encourages "black swans."Most of us are youth and have far fetched dreams to change the system for good of masses. As we grow old,we learn the reality of consequence.'

Passing Thoughts:-

'Never let your sense of morals get in the way of doing what's right.'

I do not understand the meaning of the above line first time. Then a book named The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain explained meaning of it clearly. It is account of journey of young and rebel boy in 1870's American dropout with strong remarks on orthodox society practices. Twain’s witty humor is largely expressed through irony and sarcasm. By portraying people with realism and shunning sentimentality, Twain makes a strong statement about human nature and societal hypocrisy.

Recovering from Pessimism

I was under depression few days ago. I always give my voice in my writings. To talk with some one without showing or sharing your secret pain is very tough. I am back from the exile with slight optimism in personal life. The change of mood was slow but the return from gloom is happening. I am trying to break the era of living from one day to another day. I have been rebuked correctly about content of one of my post. I liked the rebuke as it helps me in remove my shortcomings and illogical view of the world. I will be more honest and broad minded in citing my opinions from now on. I manipulate few ideas in my blog to give better impression to readers, but the bluffing route never work. I am revising in my heart the call of "Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity!," for self honesty and for the harmony with the nature. The magic wonder sense of enjoyment is lost. I am trying to regain that ecstasy in my heart. This post is written for just self expression.Just trying to rediscover the feeling of love!!!!

Some movies like 'The English Patient' or 'Dead Poet's Society' require right kind of mindset and environment to involve with it.Those who wanted to watch the film should make it personal and private viewing. As love making is different than sex, similarly the intimacy with the subtle layer of film is made possible in solitude. The mass gathering just camphourized the feeling inherited in the film due to several interruption or distraction. When you sit alone in the darkened room, the right mood evokes the emotion from inside you. The pathos or gentle humor of the sound or scene is deeply absorbed by sub conscious. The sense of understanding cinematic art develops inside you. Now,you can share your feelings and views with everyone freely and at a very evolved mental level.

I am not citing against mass viewing of cinema or any art. I am giving emphasis on the fact that one to one involvement with mastero / masterpiece gives different sense of learning to student. The silence invokes an array of thoughts harmonized with a sense of wonder and appreciation. The aesthetic feeling grows and take your ideas in an unique way.

Remember, all our lives, we have been asked to believe that "quality matters, not quantity"? Similarly, in the case of movies, it is the quality (content) of the movie that matters, not its running time or skin & action show. You are a person with the complete personality (samagrah vyaktitava). I am always unable to grasp the assumption of leaving your brain outside the movie hall. The idea of whole distinct existence of the person in the world seems to be quite paradox with the assumption. How could one laugh with the humor or jokes with the brain resting on the next chair? As he walks out of door, the complete time span inside theater is simply forgotten. He walks again to his routine lifestyle without being affected by that piece of art or bizzare work. Is that time in the movie theater just a temporary numb break from the mechanical life ?

I baffle with these question as the answers differ from individual to individual. I firmly believe in justice (bit favor vigilant one), not have much rooted faith in democracy or republic. That is another story for future debate. In end, the message for the day: Understanding yourself makes it easier to remain motivated.

From an old saying of blogland: when you are unable to change the content of blog, atleast change the template of it. I have done to outlook of the blog. Simplicity at its best.

Hypothesis on Creation

Srikanth Srinivasan writes an article about Dev D. I wanted readers to go through this paragraph presented in the article here...

"I believe there are three facets of creation - science, engineering and art. Science is purely a product of the brain. A supplier of perpetual innovation. Directors like (early) Spielberg and George Lucas are great technicians. They make up for the one-dimensionality of their scripts with their sweeping visuals and methods. Art is something that is very personal and one that should come from deep within. Scorsese and Cassavetes aren't what they are just because they shot on the streets or because they took the camera in their hands. What they portrayed on screen was an extension of their own personalities. And in between these two lies the clever device called Engineering. Assembling the innovations provided by scientists to "assemble" a customized product. And that is why Mr. Kashyap comes out as an engineer at the end of Dev D.So what does Mr. Kashyap want to “design” here? Well, from what we get from it, it looks like Mr. Kashyap is making a broad commentary on our obsession with sex."

I don't want to discuss about Dev D or Mr A.K. obsession with sex. I want to exchange thoughts about creation view puffed with science, engineering and art. Any suggestion on his application of hypothesis in real society and cinema are heartily invited.Feel free to comment and discuss...

Dark side of India

Indians are stricken by the disease of cynicism and negative thinking. They are all more materialistic, less idealistic, and even termed as prudent and practical. Lack of independent thinking and risk taking tendency has doomed us to the slave of western thinking till now. The colonial rule and dominance of one party over has produced more followers than leaders.

The lack of social entrepreneurs is more gray issue than any financial problem. Engineers can build the physical infrastructure of a nation, but someone needs to build and develop the institutions that nurture democracy. The government does not promote free thinking and scholarship in the social sciences. The present political structure is based on ignorance and irrational thinking.Even within a university environment, saying social or political things may be rife with problems from fellow students or administration.

All this talk is given in the seductive influence of Gulaal. Gulaal is a flawed masterpiece. I like the movie because of its connection with youths and university politics. The first half is an introduction of characters but second half is just manipulation of scenes together. I don't want to enrage the readers with synopsis of plot. But after Haasil, a movie has come depicting university politics in limelight with honesty. The depiction of caste system, university environment and puppet politics is beautifully presented here.

The unusual point about the movie:Films contains references of US war of Afghanistan, Iraq and 9/11 , Cynical comments of Indian Democracy are made by some characters & Piyush Mishra wears a locket of John Lennon. The soundtrack and lyrics are refreshingly good and flows smoothly as the movie progress. The lyrics remind me of Hindi poetry still unheard by majority of Hindi speaking people.

The movie content is good and directly associated with Hindi heartland of India. The cinema halls will remain empty and people from metro cities will not be able to associate with characters, hence a wide margin of revenue will cut off. Leave trade analyst and critics alone. Watch the movie for sheer performance of KK and superb performance of Abhimanyu Singh (do not panic, he is not a star kid)...

I have read atleast 10-15 reviews of the movie but the most balanced one is here. There is positive and good face of India but this experience was like discovering dark side of the moon. Celebrate the democracy with courtier culture and dynasticism. The talk of loyalty and nihilism in one same place is revolt to the Indian tradition, but independent thinking is budding in young Indian minds.

Rebel Wave of Cinema

I do not know about mainstream but welcome all ortho-para-meta dox way of making good film. I wander into middle path cinema like most Indians. I love partially both soul stirring and crowd pleasing movies. The vacuum of good cinema with healthy and sensible entertainment is missing from our bollywood. I do not know, either imagination is missing or Indian public is not intelligent enough to appreciate creative work.

Cinema is for the broad minded people who wants to explore horizon of human mind. It is not for pseudo intellectual or cult followers. Changing with the time is natural human quality. Honesty is in the promise of filmmaker with the expectation of people. Quality is not directly proportional to quantity in any field of life. Cinema should be focused on quality not quantity. Few people act /think ahead of time, they are visionaries of our society. Creative auteur make their opinion finely blending with entertainment in their creation to society.

There is very marginal difference between movies and cinema. While impression of the average movies is short lived, cinema creates everlasting and deep effect with time. Each review of the cinematic art enriches the emotion generated on first screening. Cinema is always created out of conviction rather than any compulsion. Cinema is on continuous search and endeavor for new philosophy of life.

Do not compare past especially parallel cinema movement with today's cinema. A lot of water has flown under the bridge and a whole generation of young thinkers are now veteran ones. Degeneration and resurrection is part of change. The cycle of cosmos and chaos will go on indefinitely. The change is inevitable. When some one is changing without attaching it self with inherent quality of change, it is termed as fashion in degraded sense. It is a temporary change and will perish after few days. Art is inside-out while fashion is outside-in.

Thinking pattern of viewers and readers may vary drastically with each other on blog land. But one point is sure that they ridicule the system where untalented but influential star-children are promoted to the top of the ranks and talent is given no importance. The growth of star children lies in our prehistoric mentality of faith in rule of dynasty succession. Thousand years of slavery has made them mere followers of the west (not Europe but America). We need original (flawed or semi polished or anything) works from India. There is enough plagiarism on the name of creative adaptation.

You would be surprised but I have go in support of the 'Piracy'. The big claims of ultra-big filmmakers fighting against piracy go out of the window when the same people blatantly copy Hollywood films and call them their own creation. Hard hitting example-- Mahesh Bhatt. We pirate the scripts, dialogues and even camera shots so what's the big deal? After all it is a "Intellectual Piracy". These people should be given replica of Oscars or 'Golden Bear' in the name of most originally copied material. In that case, isn't it better to see your own movie been watched by millions, even if that's on pirated CDs? The torrent and rapidshare are doing fair share of jobs otherwise we would have been unknown of these maestro's upliftments and inspirational movies.

People like Anurag Kashyap outrage and provoke people by implicitly asking what the limits of art are? Encourage rebellious person like him. Fight against social order to save the society and future potential. Rise of AK is similar to Martin Scorsese. They are questioning the conformist and norms of society. All troubled and skeptical characters are protagonist in there movies. Dark and Underground movies has prepared the soil for the plant of 'Rebel Wave of Cinema' in India. Hope it bloom and a new contribution to world form India come into the picture.

What am I doing with my life?

I am not at the crossroads of the destiny square but this post seems to be pending from sometime. I am highly addicted by internet surfing phenomenon. But I am fan of the voice/opinion provided bt it to million of people. I stumbled across these lines about Internet and likes it very much. 'This World Wide Web is a wonderful invention. It lands you in unforeseen places (virtually though), introduces to unknown people (thanks to blogs) and often proves to be a fruitful way of fighting boredom at office/home when you have nothing worthwhile to do.' One such chance stumbling landed me with an unusual piece of art; a bizarre piece of artistic oddity – Om dar ba dar. The movie came in highlight after Anurag Kashyap comment that a song from this movie was an inspiration of 'emotional atyachaar' beside Underground movie opening scene. But I liked another song Tadpole Terrorist of the same movie. For readers information, the spinner Kachra of Lagaan is the main protaganist of this movie. It makes me nostalgic of old DD days of low budgeted experimental TV serials and Parallel Cinema.

Now,the this spiral vortex image is depiction of my life. I have my own share of problems. Life moves pretty fast. You could miss it, if you don't stop and look around once in a while. I just thought of halting here and look back down the road.

I am very passionate and assertive guy in full mood. Those who know me knew that i have two face of personality like Harvey Dent. One soft spoken, open hearted, happy go lucky philosophy and caring nature; The other side is jhakee, highly charged with rage, foul mouthed and self destructive. The mood swings between two personalities without me being conscious of it. I try very hard to remain far from sarcasm and controversy. But being reactive more than proactive always put me in shit of troubles.

Recently, I chat with a very very nice guy after 10 months and one of mine casual comment just puts me in apologetic and defensive approach. The whole mood of talk went wrong. I screwed my own image by this way. The chant went down after 2 minutes.

I have very bad record of in wrong position or issuing wrong statement at wrong place and wrong time. It is due to my open mouthiness. I try to stay clam and not to comment on private life 99% of time. Free flow of emotion in that 1% just screw it all. 1% has got more weighted and life turning events in my whole life. God help me in controlling my emotion. But how can he/she/it help in this regard, I am an agonist.

Endline: Just lay off my self centered discussion.Watch 'A' rated trailer of next Anurag Kashyap movie 'Gulal' releasing on 13th march 2009.

Life at Hyderabad

It is hard time for everyone due to economic recession. I am lucky to have job at this moment with CSC.Work environment here is absolutely good. PM and senior colleagues are really friendly.I hope that this will continue in the future. No coding stuff is assigned to me. It is worth to be at unpopular position and tune out of popular beliefs in the society. I am also living with it and quite happy with the life.I love CSC each day. I think the days of joy are few and dejection is everlasting.I am enjoying the moments till this honeymoon period of happy days is over.

Now a secret mantra of job satisfaction criteria:

- If you love your work most on Mondays, you are having a Dream Job.You are passionate about the job and with this kind of commitment, growth is waiting for you in the future.

-If you hate to go the office on Monday(not due to party hangover but because of work nature), you are doing a Real Job. This is the job most of us perform and live a life of quiet desperation. This job is done for paying the mortgages. Future is undetermined here, hence no comment from my side.

Dev D Phenomenon: Dev D is a treat to watch.I have watched in Rs 50 valued ticket in balcony: Talkietown this weekend.Cheap hai na !!! The cinema hall was excellent in the ratio of input money with output infrastructure and services. From the makers of Black Friday, a contemporary tale of Devdas is reality and bold cinematic experimentation. Emotional Atyachaar is rocking the shows around India.

Alienation, while speaking a universal language, needs a local interpretation. Dev D is here to raise the voice of ours:Generation X. It has been long fed by moral grounds and cultural inheritance stuff. The self destructing and rebel character of Dev of contemporary times has just given the local interpretation to the universal phenomenon. Hypocrisy, Identity crisis, emotional experiences are part of all this dark journey of Dev's life. It represents a generation searching for an alien identity in the society. Inability of Dev to attach itself to anything is well documented by anurag in this movie. Soundtrack, camera work and dialogues are superb. Characters are not justified on the basis of ethics is greatest achievement of the film.

Dev D is a dark and underground India that is not depicted by our media, literature and movies. Our bollywood had fallen in the abyss completely till the end of 80s. Rise of new wave thinkers has been a revolt against the non sense stuff given by bollywood in the name of cinema. The death of parallel cinema got unnoticed in mainstream. Anurag Kashyap is the leading torchbearer of new wave. The path of light and fresh air from bottomless pit lifts through dark phantoms of ocean. Kashyap is taking understanding of mainstream viewers of cinema in the direction of art rather than entertainment.

New Hypothesis: When a chain smoker is in the mood of stress, solitude, daze, numbness, joy, excitement or boredom, he wants a cigarette to refresh his mood and think a new idea. First two puffs from the cigarette gives him marginal utility of the investment in the cigarette purchase. All the puffs after it is remaining return of investment. Hence you will observe few smokers throw away cigarettes after few puffs when urge of smoking is over. I want authorized people's (smokers) view over these lines.

Resolution Time: Doing is quantum leap from imagining.-Barbara Sher.
I have taken several resolution this year. I will not eat non veg, pizza, burger and eggs. I will not drink soft drinks, beers, wine. Hence cigarettes and alcohol consumption is avoidable from now on. It is hard to resist temptation but i am discovering frontiers of my willpower. I am rebel in tradition and conservative in habits. Commitment against lust of taste is really going to be tough. One more secret resolution will be revealed after 1 month. Till then wait and watch...

Underdog Nillionaire

Underdog Nillionaire: What a amazing inventory name by me !!!
I will be the hero of this novel & movie if ever created (finance koi aur kar de) only by me. Heroine will be sensuous and no vulgar scene (by Indian standard) will be introduced in it. Leave alone the future dreams, I am portraying as Underdog Nillionaire in the real life. No money of my own in the pocket and working as a technical support team in IT company justify nillionaire and underdog term to full extent.

My motto: If impossible is nothing, then i am doing impossible. (good for T-Shirts quotes)

When people are dieing for creative work like software development in IT industry,I am happy with my job in network security. May be great ambition is lacking in me, but I know my inherent potential and limit in each field of work and life. I think my work in CSC is quite safe and stable with slow growth. KT(Knowledge Transfer) sessions are going on from previous 5 days. 1 week in job (not real work yet) has been completed in the company.Details will be following in next post. I cannot complete my creative writing without mentioning cinema. From the heading, you can easily guess the name of movie.

Slumdog Phenomenon : Many people are loving it. Few people are hating the projection of image of India in foreign nations. I will also give my highly regarded opinion about this movie.---If 'City of Joy' movie is real Calcutta then slumdog millionaire is real India...

Slumdog Millionaire is not an Indian film as the Indian media seemed to project, rather it’s a British film with an Indian context. And so instead of proclaiming this as our conquest on the global stage, we should lament why anyone from our own industry could n’t achieve this feat. Danny Boyle has treated real problems of India with masala story in a vibrant way; He has made what he really wanted but the truth /reality is not depicted. Movie is tour-de-force but runs too fast without having any depth. It reminds me of Salim Javed movies of 1970's with lot of twist and colorful songs. Only melodrama part is missing, the rest of all is here. How many will watch it again for the story? I will watch it only for music, cinematography and acting of young jamal.

Remember Gandhi by British director Richard Attenborough with Ben Kingsley; It was movie of an Indian but what was achieved from it in bollywood except Oscar to dress designer Bhanu Athaiya. Same is with Rahman's association with Danny Boyle. Geniuses of AR Rahman is recognized now abroad because he is original(by international standard also).I liked Slumdog millionaire, but it is nowhere in the class of Salaam Bombay! or Dharavi, which dealt with a similar theme (problems if not theme). For the real face of slums of Mumbai, please go through this well researched article by Neeta.
For concerned people about society and cinema : Smile Pinki is the Oscar nominee in best documentary on short subject category.Put your genuine effort in bringing such stories in mainstream media.
